I had forgotten what a beautiful backdrop the Welsh Kennel Club is set in. It may not be the easiest venue to get to, but when you do, it is well worth the effort. Thank you to all the exhibitors who did make that effort, as well as the two Trophy selectors ringside. I was somewhat spoilt for choice in having quite a few CC and RCC quality animals present, and even noted with disappointment that some of my absentees were animals I have greatly admired from ringside. I was happy to hear that my Best of Breed, CH Teirwgwyn Top Gun, not only stayed for the group but made the cut!

1st RAGNAROK BALDER AT POLANCA (MISS & MR L & T SHEPPARD & HOWES)
Red and white eight year old heavyweight that I have long admired. He is a dog that brings home the adage of judging virtues over faults as his extreme virtues, even as a veteran, far outweigh his mouth fault. He excels in bone and substance while retaining balance. This powerfully built dog is a clean mover, covering the ground easily. BEST VETERAN

1st BRIDEN FUN LOVIN CRIMINAL AT KARMARA (MRS & MR R & T KARTA-WILLIAMS & WILLIAMS)
White dog with brindle eye patch. A dog that I've seen ringside many times that I didn't appreciate enough until putting my hands on him. He has a lovely, long head that has enough fill and a correct scissor bite. Correct shoulder placement with a strong second thigh. He moved well and was shown in good condition. This noisy boy really made his handler work hard to get the best out of him.
2nd SERENBULL SOUL REDEMPTION (MRS & MISS & MISS S & K & L NISBET & KELLY & KELLY)
Quality tricolour male with a filled up arcing profile and a correct bite. He was compactly built with a short back, slightly stuffy in the neck, good hind quarters and excellent feet. Well handled.
3rd INDELIBULL INKREADIBLE (MR A K FLETCHER)
Solid tricolour male with good power and substance. His tendency to roach his topline earned him his position, although that might have improved if moved at a faster pace.

1st POLANCA POWERSLAVE (MISS & MR L & T SHEPPARD & HOWES)
Excellent brindle and white male carrying the perfect amount of weight. A top class male that is even more pleasing when you get your hands on him, especially his head which is, strong, long and filled with a correct bite. Balanced construction excelling in bone and substance, powerful forechest, level topline and good hind angulation. Moved well. In strong contention for top honours.
2nd RABRAM ROCK STAR (MR R LEGGATT)
Quality white with black brindle eye patch male of a different type to 1. Super smooth, rugby head with no indentations, nice arcing profile and good bite. Ultra short backed with good substance. Good forechest and adequate hind angulation. Movement ok. His tendency to stand bunched lost him the class.
3rd CIGANO DARK KNIGHT FOR AFANBULL (MR J W SHEEHY)
Super headed black brindle and white with amazing power to his head and neck. His movement on the day let him down.

Virtuous tricolour stallion of a dog exuding power and type. Sweeping profile with abundance of fill and the widest of heads. Excellent expression with small ears and tiny wicked eyes. Straight front with cat like feet. Short backed with good hind angulation and adequate shoulder placement. He moved with a jaunty air, covering the ground effortlessly. I was honoured to bestow him with DCC BOB
2nd BROOKBULLY AVENGER (MR J EMETT)
Powerful white dog with red head markings. He has a wide, turned head with excellent fill and a correct bite. Short coupled with good round bone, strong rear end and adequate shoulders. Moved parallel with drive. A quality dog that deserves a title RDCC
3rd DOFRO TJURPANNA SORMRIDER (MR & MRS D & L CATILINA)
A very promising dog with a long head and nice body lines. Lost out on maturity. His day will come.

Showy 11 month old red and white bitch with long, filled, arcing head, good muzzle strength and a correct bite. She had good substance for her size with balanced construction, straight front, standing square with good lay of shoulder and nice hind angulation. She made her handler work hard to win BP
2nd RAGNAROK BACK IN BLACK FROM POLANCA (MISS & MR L & T SHEPPARD & HOWES)
12 month old (on the day) powerhouse of a black brindle and white bitch. One of the best heads of the day with smooth arcing profile, good width with excellent fill and a correct bite. Tremendous substance throughout, strong forechest and well angled hind quarters, would like a shorter back to give a more balanced picture. Overall, a quality bitch that was well handled and presented.
3rd HEAVEN WHITE LIGHT-FLYWEIGHT AT DITON (IMP FRA) (MR & MRS A J & D B MCCANN)
11½-month-old white bitch with a lovely head piece, correct bite and nice bodylines. Lost out in maturity.

White with black ears. Profile and fill ok, tad browy, correct bite. Slightly short in forearm, correct hind angulation, and good substance. Moved parallel coming and going, but carried her bum high. Well handled.

Quality white bitch carrying black brindle that was very eye catching. Excellent filled up head with a smooth, arcing profile, small varminty eyes and correct canines. Well made with correct angulated shoulders and hind quarters. Tendency to string out on the move, but moved with drive. Pushing hard for top honours.
2nd INDIGO INCA (MR & MRS S & C HEWITT)
Brindle and white bitch that was nicely balanced in construction overall but could do with a tad more bone. Nice turned head with enough fill, would like a bit more strength to her muzzle. Moved parallel coming and going.

Strong headed tiger brindle and white bitch that stood four square, not putting a paw wrong. She had a lovely turned and filled head, slight mouth fault. Short coupled with good lay of shoulder and enough angulation. Moved close going, parallel coming.
2nd MIINROC ENVY ME (MISS F MILLS)
Red and white bitch with good overall bodylines, gentle profile that could benefit from a tad more fill. Correct length of back, nice forechest and strong second thigh, in good condition and well handled but didn’t seem to be enjoying herself on the day.

White bitch with black head marking. Very correct bitch with a pleasing head and a nice profile, good fill, a perfect bite and super expression. Small, well placed ears and good small, dark eyes. Short coupled with enough forechest and a strong second thigh that helped propel her with drive (when she settled), helping her move parallel coming and going. Pleased to award her the BCC
2nd CH & IR CH DEBULLY VAGABOND QUEEN (MR & MRS C & G DOBBIN)
White bitch with black ears. Sweeping profile with enough fill, small, well-placed eyes and a good mouth. She had good substance for her bone and was carrying the correct amount of weight. Not as short coupled as 1. Good lay of shoulder and correct hind angulation. Moved parallel but had a tendency to string out on the move. Her overall quality couldn’t be denied and won her the RBCC
3rd KOELLEN PENNY BLACK (MR K O'CONNELL)
Typy short coupled black brindle and white bitch in shining condition. Lovely sweeping profile with good fill and good, small eyes. She didn’t seem to be enjoying herself on the day losing her a higher placement.
