My thanks to the committee for their invitation to judge, my exhibitors for their entries and to my hard working stewards on this cold and windy day. My observations of this, one of my favourite breeds today, was disappointment and surprise on how poor the hind leg movement has gone, no longer a strong drive but ‘dancing’ all over, some dogs had their left hind legs completely tucked under their ‘tummy’ (this is a one to watch in the future for our breeders). Handlers allowing dogs/bitches to play up and bounce all over does not hide bad movement, I appreciate that some exhibitors cannot get to a ring craft class but really must practise, practise, practise every day, if only 5 or 10 minutes to let your d/b know what you want them to do, like a baby learns so must your d/b. I was once asked when do I try training a dog, the answer for that the moment when the puppy first opens its eyes. One can see the difference who practise and who doesn’t and some dogs would have been placed higher in line if they had behaved themselves today. It was fantastic to see only 1 noticeable lower canine slightly out of line and hopefully this problem will soon be eradicated.

1st BULLFORTIS ONE SHOT ONE KILL (MR & MISS D & A CONNOLLY & GOURLEY)
White, a dog with good potential that I am sure will be amongst the future ‘top dogs’, liked everything about him, still needs that ‘top polish’ but has good ratio to form, strong bone and substance with sufficient arc, fill and turn of stifle, maintains a nice top-line on the move, drives strongly and with purpose.
2nd INVERSU SOLO HURRICAN (MR & MRS M & S CHAPMAN)
White with brindle ear, another quality dog, all virtues with well shaped head and fill, nice substance and muscle, one of the better movers today.

1st KENXTWEN LET'S GO (MISS & MR A & A TOWNEND & BALL)
A well marked red/white dog of finer type, presents a good overall picture, bone and substance to size, head sufficient arc, nice angulation to front and rear with turn of stifle, sound movement.
2nd OLLIEBRAD JAVARKE ROLL WITH IT (MRS J JOHNSON)
White, good overall combination, bone, substance, head lacks a little on arc but has good fill, movement, dancing at times.

1st ARICON FIERY EYES AT CLANSMANN (MR & MISS K & A JOWERS)
White, eye catching and one of the heavy bone/muscle dogs here today, good conformation presents a lovely picture standing but unfortunately is let down by his back movement RDCC
2nd KIRKVILLE TOKYO JO (MR M YOUNG)
White, brindle ears, another dog with ring presence, all virtues with bone and substance, was also one of the better movers today, my preference for one was the heavier type otherwise either could have changed places.

Another eye catching dog but this time a black/brindle, with plenty of strong bone and substance to ratio, all virtues including a powerful drive in his movement, well worthy of his CC and I was thrilled to hear after judging this will make him up (when confirmed), DCC BOB
2nd TEWKABULL PEAKY BLINDER (MR J TEWKESBURY)
White, presents a good overall picture with all virtues and good conformation, lacks a little on head, wouldn’t settle today making his movement erratic.

Red, still looks like a youngster, at 8 years of age, alert and on her toes, shown in good condition, moved well and could still challenge in a line up today, BV.
2nd KIRKBY GLISTENING SNOW (MISS L DAVISON)
Black brindle, coming up to 8 years and greying around her muzzle I think this lady would have preferred to have been by the fire today but has the right conformation/head and still moves soundly but sedately around the ring.

1st MEILOW PURE GOLD (MR W KINDER)
Brindle, good picture of balance to size, head is well shaped with arc and fill, is well boned with firm muscle that does not distract from her femininity, fore and hindquarters are nicely developed with turn of stifle let down to hock.

White, brindle ear/eye patch, well sized with sufficient bone and muscle, head lacks a little on arc but has fill, presents a compact picture, nice forequarters and soft angulation to hindquarters, has a wicked expression that says ‘look at me I am a Bull Terrier’ would have liked a stronger drive on the move, RBCC

Tricolour, fine boned giving her a lovely feminine figure, bone and substance completes the picture, head is not to exaggerated with sufficient arc and fill, nice angulations with sound movement.

White, brindle ears, good overall, bone substance, arc and fill, a little unsettled today and was let.
