REGENT TROPHY
WINNER COPABULL WHITE LIGHTENING OF BULLYON
RUNNER UP & BOS CLANSMAN SUPER FLYE GUY
CHARLIE GIRL CUP FOR MOVEMENT WHITE WIZARD OF STEEL AT BLAZINBULLYS
Judge: Elaine Clark (Grandopera)
It’s an honour to be invited to judge the Bull Terrier Club’s most coveted trophy. The last time I did so (2016) the selectors sent us six dogs and four bitches to go over – this year was somewhat different with Eight Dogs and Ten bitches. The depth of quality in the bitches outweighed that of the dogs, resulting in some beautiful girls not making the cut.
It was a pleasure to judge alongside Gerard Cox and we found ourselves very much in sync with our outlook and choices. A personal plea to exhibitors: The Trophy show is for the Crème-de-la-crème in the Bull Terrier World and, at this level, the dogs should be presented to reflect this; clean and with whiskers and tails trimmed.
Winner: Overall winner of the Regent Trophy was the beautiful, classical bitch, Copabull White Lightening of Bullyon. Put down to perfection and gleaming white. She is an elegant, well-balanced mix of Bull and Terrier with a beautiful, feminine head having arc, width, fill and depth and a correct mouth. Good length of neck into well-placed shoulders and a lovely straight front (if you wanted to be picky you might prefer tighter feet but…… ’there’s always something dear’). Strong quarters with a good bend of stifle and well developed second thigh, when she settled, she moved very well both ways. One for her breeders to be extremely proud of; she can only get better and her title can’t be far way.
Runner Up: Runner-Up and Best Opposite Sex was the ultra-masculine Clansman Super Flye Guy. A white powerhouse of a dog with a super head; strong, deep and well arced, with width, fill and a truly punishing expression and correct bite. Not the most outgoing showman, his handler worked hard, doing a great job to get the best out of him. Excellent bone and substance, correct shoulder and front, a little long in back but a strongback end which he used to advantage, covering the ground well in both directions. The best male on the day and a deserving winner.
Others worthy of a mention are; Ch Clansman Wicked Upriser, a really classy, quality white bitch who was very sadly off form, and White Wizard of Steel at Blazinbullys; not the head of the winning dog but the outstanding mover of the day, sweeping though and simply demanding the Charlie Girl Movement cup.
Judge: Gerard Cox (Coxgal)

ORMANDY JUG FOR DOGS
WINNER CH OLLIEBRAD SOME MIGHT SAY
RUNNER UP CH CLANSMAN SUPER FLY GUY
Judge: David Westwood (Tulsadoom)
Firstly, I would like to thank The Bull Terrier Club for the great honour of being asked to judge The Ormandy Jug for Dogs trophy at this prestigious event. It was also a pleasure to be judging with my co-judge Mr Danny McGregor. I would like to congratulate all breeders and exhibitors who had received invitations to compete after what had been a turbulent two years in the dog showing world.
Winner: Ch Olliebrad Some Might Say – Beautifully marked brindle and white. For me he was shown at his perfect weight for this show. His head is packed and filled without exaggeration, perfect bite, ears bang on top, well placed eyes which give the correct expression when viewed form the front. Lovely reach of neck into well placed shoulders and into a level topline. He really does stand square and has excellent rear quarters which drive him along, giving fantastic movement both ways. You can see he loves working with his handler, making him hard to ignore.
Runner Up: Ch Clansman Super Fly Guy – White – true “bull” type. Unbelievable bone and substance. His fantastic head is packed with power and filled all the way through with a perfect mouth and amazing keen expression. He has an ultra straight front finished with tight feet and is well let down in the rear. For his substantial size he is surprisingly short backed and moves well when he gets going. If he showed off all his virtues he would be an awesome sight.
Judge: Danny McGregor (Merlindan)
As a reserve judge I was pleased to share the appointment with Mr David Westwood. We were in agreement and were very happy to put forward our Winner and Runner Up
Winner: Parkington’s Ch Olliebrad Some Might Say: Classic well marked brindle and white. Clean well filled head with deep muzzle and strong under jaw, correct mouth. Good ear placement and expression. Exceptionally well made all through and as near to the standard as you could get. Lovely reach of neck leading to well placed shoulders. Straight front with good round bone. Strong shapely body with deep chest, good spring of ribs and correct topline. Good bend of stifle and stands correct from any angle you look at him. A well balanced dog who moved true both ways with power and drive, was pleased to put him forward for the Charlie Girl Cup movement trophy.
Runner Up: Jowers’ Clansmann Superflye Guy: Quality white. Power house of a dog. Super head with tremendous width, fill and turn down. Wicked expression and well placed ears. Correct mouth. Good length of neck and correct shoulder placement. Deep chest, straight front, neat feet and heavy bone. He is well muscled throughout with strong quarters and has good angulation. Moved freely and with drive.
Another who caught my eye was Leggatt’s Rabram Rustic Sunrise – Smart Br/w. Strong well filled head with good arc and turndown. Correct mouth. Straight front, nicely rounded body and good quarters. A sound mover who moved well both ways and was put forward for the Charlie Girl Cup.

ORMANDY JUG FOR BITCHES
WINNER COPABULL WHITE LIGHTENING OF BULLYON
RUNNER UP CH MAGIC EYE FINALIST OF ARICON
Judge: Carole Kilpatrick (Kilacabar)
I was highly honoured to be asked to judge the Ormandy Jug for bitches for the Bull Terrier Club. It was also a great pleasure to judge with my co judge, Anna Blair. I was really pleased with the depth of quality in the bitches and after casting my eye over the class I realised it was not going to be an easy job.
Winner: I was so pleased that Anna and I came to a unanimous decision in picking our winner, Copabull White Lightening of Bullyon, a two year old white terrier type bitch of super balance and quality, lovely feminine head, filled and finished, a keen expression, neat ears bang on top, correct mouth with good size teeth, long flowing neck into good shoulders, straight front with tight feet. For me, she has enough bone type, correct top line, and good quarters, moved well both ways and covered the ground well. An electric showgirl who is still maturing and, for me, will only get better. Handled well and in tip top condition.
Runner Up: When it came to our runner up we had two top quality coloured bitches in mind. Laronbelle’s Crimson Tide was the bitch I preferred, a red and white three year old upstanding terrier type, with a super wide and filled head, a super profile, small wicked dark eye, ears bang on top, muscular neck into good lay of shoulder, good feet, level top line, good quarter, although she had a deep brisket I would have preferred a more spring of rib, but her overall type and width of head and keen expression won me over. She moved in a straight line both ways, moved well in front, closer behind, but moved with drive and covered the ground well. In excellent condition and handled well.
The bitch in contention and Anna’s pick was Ch Magic Eye Finalist of Aricon, a brindle and white two year old terrier type bitch. A top quality girl in gleaming condition, long feminine head with unbroken profile, a good eye, ears a little loose on the move, elegant neck into good shoulder, enough bone for type, well sprung ribs and deep brisket, strong muscled quarters. Although she moved parallel behind she did not seem to cover the ground as well as the red bitch.
My reasons for picking the red bitch were that I felt she has a better expression, width of head and ears, she covered the ground better on the move. Never the less two top quality bitches. Anna and I could not agree and decided to call in the referee who preferred the brindle btch.
Judge: Anna Blair (Megaville)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the officers and committee of The Bull Terrier Club for inviting me to judge this prestigious trophy, it was a great honour and pleasure to do this alongside my co-judge Carole Kilpatrick. There were some lovely bitches in the ring and we were in complete agreement with our winner but not on our runner up so we decided to ask the referee Mr David Westwood to decide between the two girls we had chosen.
Winner: Busson / Philips Copabull White Lightning of Bullyon – This beautiful top quality white girl showed her socks off all the time she was in the ring and was expertly handled by her very experienced handler. She is a super example of the breed , typey and feminine. Her head is filled and turned , she has a great expression ,lovely deep underjaw ,perfect mouth and well placed ears. A beautiful elegant neck leading into a good lay of shoulder and a lovely straight front, she has level topline and was one of the very few that held her topline on the move. Her rear is excellent in angulation and for such a young girl she is well muscled. Her tail set is good and she moved freely, completely parallell with drive she is a credit to her breeders, owners and handler. I look forward to seeing her gain her title which I’m sure won’t be far away.
Runner Up: Stanley’s Ch Magic Eye Finalist Of Aricon – Another beautifully balanced top class brindle and white girl who again is very typey and feminine, today she was carrying just a little too much weight however for me her qualities still shone through. Her head is long, strong and she has a lovely profile her underjaw is deep and she has also has a perfect mouth, well placed ears and a good expression. She has a lovely straight front, good bone and substance and beautiful tight feet. Short backed with a good spring of rib and well angulated rear hindquarters, she also held her topline on the move, moving parallel with drive. Top quality girl whom is very deserving of her Champion title.
Another girl who we both liked and the reason we had to have the referee in to decide was Twyman’s Laronbelle’s Crimson Tide. A lovely red and white girl who has a very beautiful head which is turned and completely filled, she has a nice neck and nice straight front, however for me our runner up had a shorter back and a cleaner shoulder, but i did like this quality girl who was expertly handled and in tune with her young handler.
Referee : David Westwood (Tulsadoom)
I was called in as Referee for the Ormandy Bitch Jug.
Runner Up: My choice on overall balance was Ch Magic Eye Finalist of Aricon. Outstanding brindle and white bitch with a beautiful head with gentle profile, pack and fill and a perfect mouth. She stands square with a perfect front down to the tidiest feet. Her back is short and when she moves well both ways she keeps her topline level.
Laronbelle’s Crimson Tide is a powerful red and white bitch in top condition. Tremendous profile, ears bang on top and a wicked expression. Lovely reach of neck into a level topline. Good square front and well let down rear. She moves with drive both coming and going. I don’t think she is the easiest girl to handle but credit to her handler who made it look simple.

My thanks must go to The Bull Terrier Club Committee for inviting me to Judge The Sandawana Trophy at this years’ Trophy Show. I really enjoyed the day and it was nice to catch up with many old friends I have not seen for a while. It was also a pleasure to Judge with Maureen Hughes whom I have known for many years. Having gone over and moved all the Competitors all of which showed excellent temperament, were presented in top condition and handled well, we decided to pull out Parkingtons Ch Olliebrad Some Might Say and Twyman’s Laronbelles Crimson Tide.
Winner: After a little deliberation we agreed on Ch Olliebrad Some Might Say as our winner. He is a well marked dark brindle and white with a strong filled head, turned and finished but without exaggeration, his eye and ear placement are spot on giving the correct expression. He has a long strong neck into correct shoulder, deep chest, straight front with tight feet, a short back with correct top line, a well set tail and strong angulated quarters. She has a deep chest and correct topline, for me she could carry a little more weight which would give her better balance. A well made and angled stifle which translates into a great stride with plenty of drive on the move.

My thanks to the committee of the Bull Terrier Club for inviting me to judge the International Trophy. I must admit that when the invitation arrived I thought that I and my co-judge would be in for an easy time in that in current circumstances the entry from overseas would be very small. I shouldn’t have underestimated the international exhibitors’ enthusiasm and in the event we had a large collection of dogs to go over, most of them top class examples of the breed, of various types but with much to offer the future, some resident in the UK and some from as far afield as Brazil. Quite a challenge to sort out but an enjoyable task especially with Steve Paterson as co-judge.
We shortlisted three from the dogs and three from the bitches, any one of whom would have made a worthy winner as would several of the other contenders.
Winner Eventually we decided on the white bitch Rasels Bulls Xanthe (Slovakia) as our overall winner, such a classy girl with the most beautiful clean outline, a gorgeous head with wicked expression, well placed and carried ears, a super profile combined with plenty of fill, well placed shoulder and corresponding upper arm resulting in sufficient forechest, correct topline and well angulated quarters. She is also a really excellent mover, true in both directions and with a smooth profile action retaining her shape. She’s just a baby but a special one and no doubt has plenty more to come in future years.
For me she was very strongly pushed by Brutal Bull Lady Gwenbully (Spain), another superb white bitch who makes the most of her many charms, with a powerful head and super overall balance. She has just the right amount of substance for her size and I especially admired her compactness and solidity.
Another contender was Lara Dorren Buteo (Poland), a bigger impressive brindle of a different type, standing over a bit more ground. Plenty of bone and a super head, had moments when she showed off her outline well.
Runner Up Our best opposite sex was the white male Lord De Winter di Casa Sineri (Italy), an immediate eye-catcher with plenty of ring presence, lovely head type with piercing eye, short back with slight roach, good bone and substance all set off with a super reach of neck, something not so often seen nowadays and which helps give a touch of class. Not quite so co-ordinated on the move today as the winning bitch but a real Bull Terrier.
The red boy Multi Ch Fanatic Bulls Because I Love You (Croatia) challenged strongly. His great virtues are his conformation, angulation and movement with good forechest, clean shoulders and true, flowing movement, plus a strong masculine well turned head. Another close decision, for me Lord De Winter’s sheer oomph and typiness, as well as his ears, just carried the day.
I was also very taken with Dream Lover of Widget’s Bull at Llanwenarth (Poland), who makes an immediate impression, tremendous bone and substance and a wonderfully typical expression. Perhaps not quite the accurate movement of the red or the compactness of Lord De Winter but certainly looks like a potential stud dog of note.
I would like to thank the committee of The Bull Terrier Club for inviting me to judge at their prestigious Trophy Show. The hospitality and organisation were exemplary. It was an honour and a privilege to judge the International Trophy with my esteemed Co Judge Mr Simon Parsons. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and am pleased to say we were in complete agreement on our eventual Winner and Runner Up, Best Opposite Sex.
Winner: The Winner of the International Trophy was Rasels Bull Xanthe (Slovakia): This super young white bitch with brindle ear extrudes femininity; her quality, class and style could not be denied. She has a gentle sweeping profile to her head, with enough width and fill, neat well place ears and wicked varmity expression, one of only a few with a perfect bite. An elegant neck leading to a beautiful straight front and tight cat like feet. Short coupled with good tuck up and well angulated hind quarters with a correct tail-set. She moved free and easy both ways and covered the ground with purpose, grace and drive. Presented beautifully and handled without fuss. At only 9 months of age, she shone like a diamond and I’m sure, a bright future awaits. It was indeed a pleasure to go over her. Plenty of time on her side and I look forward to seeing her progress as she matures.
Runner Up:
The Runner Up, Best Opposite Sex was Lord Winter Di Casa Sineri (Italy) Eye catching flashy 13-month-old white dog with great ring presence. A well packed head with just the right amount of profile, width & fill. Good ear placement and keen eye delivers a wicked expression. Good mouth, with pleasing length of neck leading to a decent front, good quality bone and tidy feet, Short enough coupled with well-defined second thigh. Moved reasonably well in front a little close behind, but still with a jaunty air. Super partnership with his handler who has trained him to perfection, always on his toes and never stopped showing. A very worthy runner up.
Others shortlisted:
Dream Lover Of Widgets Bull At Llanwenarth Upstanding white dog with many virtues.
Multi Ch Fantastic Bulls Because I Love You Well-balanced red and white dog with good movement.
Brutal Bull Lady Gwenbully Very well-balanced white bitch with black brindle ears power packed head, full of bone & substance.
Lara Dorren Buteo Upstanding brindle and white bitch, with shapely flowing lines.
