Notts & Derby District Bull Terrier Club historically have the last scheduled Breed Championship show of the year. It was a pleasure to be invited to judge this prestigious show and my sincere thanks to the committee for that. The entry was excellent, one of the highest of the year. Thanks to all for the entry and the exhibitors on the day, it was a pleasure to go over so many delightful animals. Recognition needs to be recorded for the hard working and dedicated committee who organised and ran a great show; the venue, atmosphere and general welcome to everyone was excellent. The overall quality today was very good with the top winning animals in both sexes meriting their top places. Some very close decisions were called for especially in the bitch’s with, as happens, some good animals missing out. It’s a bit of a cliché but especially true as one or two of these positions could easily change on another day. Numerically and overall quality today was with the bitches, there are some lovely exhibits coming through. It will be interesting to watch as they continue to develop and be shown. Thank you to my steward(s) who worked hard to ensure the continuous flow into and out of the ring.

1st KENZDUO MAXIMINUS THRAX (MR P MOORE)
6 months old white with two brindle ear marks. Heavy set throughout with lots of bone for his age. Good strong head which would benefit with more profile, good mouth. Decent length of back, super strong hind quarters for his age which he used on the move. He’s a little loose all round still being immature and with it all being a bit new to him he was understandably a little unsettled with his handler doing a good job. Shown in overall good condition.

1st RIGHTSTUFF ACE (MR & MRS C J & J WRIGHT)
Upstanding and attractive 17 months old white with an eye patch. Lovely strong head which is turned and filled with a good expression and mouth. Good strong front section, neck and shoulders. Strong bone throughout with super tight feet. His body is developed and has good length of back with the correct topline and developed hind quarters which could be seen in his movement both coming and going. A smart quality young dog who was presented well.
2nd VETSBULLIES LIVING ON MY OWN (DRS O A & L C GALLA)
Another nice young dog different in type to 1. White 16 months old with a super head, piercing expression, good mouth. Enough bone and substance for his size with shapely body, he looks a picture standing four square with super tight tidy feet. On the move he just tends to show a little more roaching over the loin and could drive move from behind. A showy, stylish young dog with lots to like about him. Just preferred the overall masculinity and movement of 1.

1st BEEBEEMI SNOW SOLDIER (MR T HOPE)
White 20 months old, super strong bone for his size. He has a strength and length to his head but ideally needs more turn and fill. Good mouth. Straight front leading into tight feet. His body is strong and developed, he just tends to carry his tail high. Muscular hind quarters but could do with more bend of stifle. Moved straight in front and closer behind. A compact strong dog who showed well and never took his eye of his handler.

1st INVERSU SOLO HURRICAN (MR & MRS M & S CHAPMAN)
A tremendous young all white dog which any breed specialist should appreciate. At 18 monthss old he already displays all the attributes of a top class animal. His head is power packed with the desired length, width, depth, strong underjaw, good mouth, lovely expression and well placed ears. Strong shapely neck into correct shoulders, broad visible muscular forechest and super straight front. He has an abundance of bone and substance for his size without a hint of exaggeration. His body is compact, well ribbed with depth, strength, and volume to it presenting the correct outline standing. When he settled on the move, he is true in front and drives from behind using his powerful angulated hind quarters. He is full of breed type, balanced and is a dog with great virtues and without any doubt is masculine and every inch a Male Bull Terrier. It was a pleasure to go over him and congratulations to his owner/breeders on producing such a noteworthy dog. DCC BIS

An attractive dark brindle and white. A big upstanding dog with a long elegant head, well set ears, good eye and mouth. Really good bone throughout and stands on the best of feet. Good front and shoulders. His body is shapely and developed but would like to see him slightly shorter in back. He has decent bend of stifle and moves well in front and slightly closer behind. A nice all round dog who was presented in beautiful condition and showed himself to the maximum, a real credit to his owner. He came second today to an exceptional animal.

A beautiful top quality well marked rich brindle and white. Lovely classical head with a sweeping unbroken profile, you have to go over this dog to fully appreciate him. Good expression, ears, one misplaced tooth. Substantial bone and substance throughout, neat feet. Strong matured body with good tail set and developed rear quarters moving well both ways. It’s always good to see brindles in the ring especially one as good as this. A top class elegant dog with a great deal of style about him who showed well making the most of himself in the ring. He was put down in first class condition deserving his win today. RDCC RBIS
2nd WHITE WIZARD OF STEEL AT BLAZINBULLYS (MISS J THOMAS)
4 year old white dog. Long filled head, would like to see more finish to it, good mouth, eye and ears placement. He has good bone to match his size. Strong muscular compact developed body with good length to it. Muscular hindquarters which he fully uses on the move. A very animated and vocal dog with his hander managing to get the best out of him. A close decision between 2 and 3 who I liked too. The overall quality and style of 1 won him the top spot today.

It’s wonderful to be given the opportunity to judge veterans especially with a varied entry of ages and types like this. All of them are winners in their own right, and an absolute credit to their owners, breeders, and the breed in general.
1st CH RABRAM ROCK STAR (MR R LEGGATT)
White with a black head mark. At almost 8 years old this dog still commands attention in the ring. In great physical shape and still beautifully balanced with a lovely head with strength and profile. Good neck, shoulders and front, strong short body and hindquarters. Moved freely with that typical jaunty movement. He clearly enjoyed his day out of retirement and back in the ring. Later in the day he was also the sire of the eventual Bitch CC winner today. BV

Another quality veteran tricolour almost 8 years old. Different type of dog to 1. Big upstanding masculine dog with tremendous bone and substance. Super head, front with depth and strength to the body to match. Powerful hindquarters moving soundly with style and vigour. Great to see another classy dog of this type in the ring again today. Shown in good, fit, hard condition putting in a great performance in the ring today.

She is a tall upstanding bitch with ample bone for her size, nicely shaped body and decent length of back. She moved straight in front and closer behind. She is still very immature and needs lots of time to develop and fill out. Shown in good condition. BP

18 months old tricolour bitch. Super strong head which is completely turned and filled, lovely expression, well set ears, one tight tooth. A powerfully made bitch throughout. She is well balanced with strength, length and shape to her body with lots of substance for her size and good feet. She can be distracted in the ring but her handler managed to get the best out of her. Her movement is good both front and rear with strong rear quarters moving soundly when she settled. Shown in good condition.

Attractive brindle and white who showed beautifully in the ring doing everything asked of her. Another nice headed bitch with good mouth and well set ears. Strong neck with good width of chest, straight front, good feet. She stands square and has a decent length of back with enough bend of stifle. Moved well in front and closer behind. Presented and handled really well. Not quite the head or compactness of 1.

A pretty white bitch with ear markings. Feminine shapely head, good mouth, shoulders and front with good feet. Well made and has good body lines throughout. She has enough bend of stifle and moved ok both ways. At 13 months old she is just out of puppy, still immature and needs time to develop. An elegant young bitch who has handled and well presented.

A stunning headed bitch with two eye marks. She excels in head which is long filled and completely turned, good mouth and lovely expression. Muscular neck, Good straight front leading into neat feet. Decent length of back with ample rear angulation. She stands squarely and when she does, she looks the part. A little unsettled initially but eventually moved well both ways. A nice type of bitch at just over two years old looks like she still has some developing to do. Another one shown and presented in good condition.
2nd LAST CHANCE FOR MAGIC (MR R GALLOWAY)
A typy elegant red and white bitch who scores in outline and overall make and shape. Her head is feminine and elegant with a good mouth. Good neck into shapely body and length of back. Nice hindquarters which are angulated and she moved well in front and behind. A stylish, bitch who was shown well and presented in lovely condition. A very close decision today between these two lovely bitches with the head of 1 just edging her into pole position.

Super smart attractive white bitch. Beautiful head, expression and good mouth. Good shoulders into straight front and tight feet. Strongly and soundly made throughout with good bone and a compact short body keeping her shape on the move. Lovely outline standing. Moved ok both ways when she settled up and down the mat. A very smart bitch with lots of quality about her. Presented in good condition.
2nd BLUEPOINT WHITE SWAN FOR GARTHYBULL (MR & MRS G & E JOHN)
Very similar in type and look to 1. White with a brindle mark. Another lovely headed bitch with good eye, ears and expression. Nicely put together, good outline standing with the bone to match her size with compact body proportions. She moved well in front but tends to lose her topline on the move. Another quality bitch who was well schooled through her paces today in the ring. A close decision between 1 and 2. In the end, I just prefer the over shape of 1 on the move.

An exquisite white bitch with two black ears. From any position you look at this bitch her proportions and angles are correct making her easy on the eye. Her head is beautifully shaped curving gently, with a lovely expression and well placed ears. She has a first class neck, muscular shoulders, straight front with a visible forechest leading into a short compact well rounded body, good topline and underline with the right amount of raise over the loin into a well set tail correctly carried. Good bend of stifle moving freely and straight in front and slightly closer behind. She scores highly on balance and type and is the epitome of make and shape. Taking nothing away from the other bitches today she stood out in the ring. Handled and shown beautifully doing everything that she was required to do today never taking her eyes of her handler. A feminine, exceptional bitch and a lovely one to own. BCC

Another lovely eye catching red and white bitch who has a great deal of ring presence. An upstanding bitch, different in type to 1. Her front section is good with a long filled feminine head, good eye and ears. Muscular long arched neck into good shoulders and straight front. Good overall body shape with strength to it with good length of back and topline with substance matching her size. She stands parallel and square. Enough bend of stifle with strong hindquarters which she used on the move. She was handled and showed well giving a good account of herself in the ring. Well done to her handler. I was pleased to award her the Res CC - Interesting to note that both 1 and 2 were bred in Spain with UK stock in their breeding. RBCC

1st QUENTINHILL ROYAL EYENESS (MS JOANNA SZEWCZYK)
Super smart attractive white bitch. Beautiful head, expression and good mouth. Good shoulders into straight front and tight feet. Strongly and soundly made throughout with good bone and a compact short body keeping her shape on the move. Lovely outline standing. Moved ok both ways when she settled up and down the mat. A very smart bitch with lots of quality about her. Presented in good condition.
2nd BLUEPOINT WHITE SWAN FOR GARTHYBULL (MR & MRS G & E JOHN)
Very similar in type and look to 1. White with a brindle mark. Another lovely headed bitch with good eye, ears and expression. Nicely put together, good outline standing with the bone to match her size with compact body proportions. She moved well in front but tends to lose her topline on the move. Another quality bitch who was well schooled through her paces today in the ring. A close decision between 1 and 2. In the end, I just prefer the over shape of 1 on the move.

1st BRUTAL BULL LADY GWENBULLY (MR C OTERO)
An exquisite white bitch with two black ears. From any position you look at this bitch her proportions and angles are correct making her easy on the eye. Her head is beautifully shaped curving gently, with a lovely expression and well placed ears. She has a first class neck, muscular shoulders, straight front with a visible forechest leading into a short compact well rounded body, good topline and underline with the right amount of raise over the loin into a well set tail correctly carried. Good bend of stifle moving freely and straight in front and slightly closer behind. She scores highly on balance and type and is the epitome of make and shape. Taking nothing away from the other bitches today she stood out in the ring. Handled and shown beautifully doing everything that she was required to do today never taking her eyes of her handler. A feminine, exceptional bitch and a lovely one to own. BCC
2nd SP CH MILDRE'S BULLS FIRE GALAXY (MR J SHEEHY)
Another lovely eye catching red and white bitch who has a great deal of ring presence. An upstanding bitch, different in type to 1. Her front section is good with a long filled feminine head, good eye and ears. Muscular long arched neck into good shoulders and straight front. Good overall body shape with strength to it with good length of back and topline with substance matching her size. She stands parallel and square. Enough bend of stifle with strong hindquarters which she used on the move. She was handled and showed well giving a good account of herself in the ring. Well done to her handler. I was pleased to award her the Res CC - Interesting to note that both 1 and 2 were bred in Spain with UK stock in their breeding. RBCC
