I would like to express my appreciation to the North East Bull Terrier Club Committee for this judging appointment and their great hospitality during the show. A big thank you to the secretary, my steward and everybody involved, for their professional work before and at the show. I was amazed with the entry, just two weeks before the Major Trophies, also a great turn out of the audience, despite the winter time and not the best road conditions, that means a lot to me. Thank you.
After the show, I had an opportunity to have a chat with Mr E. Stanley, whom I respect a lot, about the difficulties that judges may face during their work in the ring. We have agreed that it takes courage and strength of mind to honestly “follow your heart” while judging. I am proud to say, that I judged for virtues, considering type the most important of all the aspects of the Bull Terrier, having in mind the picture of The Bull Terrier Standard and I judged to the way I understand it.

7 months old puppy, beautiful brindle and white with lovely markings, strong and masculine head, scissor bite. Short back and a very good make and shape, great muscle tone, strong hindquarters, correct bend of stifle. Tail set correctly. Very attractive and balanced boy who moves well. Lovely temperament.

Strong and masculine, 13 months old, white male. Superb powerful head, a lovely eye giving piercing expression. Ears still soft. Superb bone. Strong front, feet turned slightly outwards. Undershot mouth but correctly placed canines. Full of virtues male, would be interesting to see him fully matured.

His handler took decision to withdraw this dog from the show due to misbehaviour. A great pity he did not show today as he was my kind of dog, perfect mouth, lovely make and shape with a tremendous expression and superb type!

23 months old, white male, superb conformation, nice head with curved profile, good ears and tiny dark eye giving that wow expression. Correct mouth. Great reach of neck and shoulders, straight powerful front and nice cat-like feet. Correct top line, tail set and back angulation ok. To be ultra critical I'd prefer him to be shorter. Very pleasant showy temperament and handled very well. BD

1st COOLBULS KINGSTON TOWN AT KRAWEN (MR & MRS S J & K J BROWN)
Lovely short backed black brindle and white male. Very good head in front and profile. Nice, tiny eyes. The way he carried his ears spoilt the picture a little bit, which could have been down to him being rather bored in the ring. He has correct mouth, nice make and shape and he was in a lovely condition.
2nd ALIZARIN BLAZIN FIRE (MS E WILSON)
Upstanding red and white typy male, nice strong head, correct mouth, superb expression. Lovely, straight and wide front, wider then 1st. Good make and shape, correct top line and bend of stifle. Id prefer him a bit shorter. A bit erratic in movement. Presented in a great condition and handled well. Quality male, lots to like about him.

1st OFF THE CHARTS AT CHARISHALEE (MRS P & MESSRS C & L WANNOP)
I have always admired this male and I was happy to be able to go over him. White, superb typy, superb head in front and profile. Stunning expression. Well put together with a plenty of bone, short backed, correct top line and tail set. Feet could be better. He is a great, superb typy example of the breed.
2nd CASTORBULL DARK BEFORE DAWN (MISS & MR G & P NADOLSKI & LIDDLE)
Smartly marked and well put together male with a lovely expression and immaculate front and feet. I would prefer better profile to his head. Correct top line and tail carriage. Good bent of stifle and hind quarters. Well handled, presented in a perfect condition.

8 years old, black and brindle bitch, superb quality all over. Great, strong yet feminine head, lovely expression. Superb make and shape, lovely neck into beautiful shoulders, very short backed, which I love. Clean front and wonderful feet. Good bent of stifle. Great condition for her age and showed lovely. She is a superb bitch which I have always admired. She would have been my BIS candidate if she was younger and in her peak moment.

Very typy, feminine, with a lovely expression. Good mouth. Beautiful ears and eyes. Superb head with good turn and width. Correct make and shape. Long neck into lovely shoulders and short back. Tail set ok. Amazing clean front and beautiful cat-like feet. A bit unsettled which is easily forgiven at this age. Pleasure to go over her. BP

Tricolour puppy female, typy, stronger than 1st. She has a strong head, good eyes and ears placement. Scissor bite with one canine tight. Good make and shape, straight front, superb short back, lovely, showy temperament and presented very well, in perfect condition.

10 months old, white puppy bitch oozing femininity. Immature yet, but very attractive ring presence, this kind of bitch that catches your eye straight away. Lovely, curved head, eyes giving a fantastic expression, ears set correctly. Perfect mouth. Long neck into correct shoulders. Front a bit narrow yet, feet turned slightly outwards. Good top line and a very good bend of stifle. Presented in a wonderful condition. Well handled. Very showy bitch whom I can’t wait to see fully mature.
2nd JAVARKE JOIE DE VIVRE (MRS J JOHNSON)
Black brindle and white, stronger then 1st with a better front then the class winner and a bit shorter, more mature. I liked her muscle tone, power and substance. She has very good head, however I preferred profile of her competitor. Perfect mouth. Good neck and lovely front and feet. A little dip behind withers but it could have been down to her mood on the day as I felt she was a bit flat and she did not give 100% today. Good in movement though, a very typy, lovely bitch.

White junior bitch, very pretty, very well put together. Nice feminine head, good mouth. Beautiful tiny eye and well set ears. Straight front and correct cat-like feet. Good length of neck into very good lay of shoulders and correct length of back. Tail set correctly, very good bent of stifle. Showing very well for her handler. In movement ok however a bit close behind. Perfect condition.
2nd GOLITHA BLACK BETTY (MR S J PATERSON)
Attractive solid black bitch. Very attentive and cooperative with her handler. A pleasure to watch. Very well curved profile, lovely eyes and ears. Correct neck into good shoulders. I liked her straight front, correct top line and tail set. Moved ok. The only thing that throws her out of balance is her longish cast. She was in a lovely condition and presented very nicely.

1st JAVARKE ETERNAL SPARK (MRS J JOHNSON)
A very good name for this bitch! There is something special in her that drew my attention from the moment I saw her. She is a superb showy, sharp terrier type, white female with a perfect mouth and front to die for. Her front is absolutely immaculate, straight, with correct width and depth of chest, with wonderful cat-like feet. Lovely, little eyes and ears bang on top. Superb wicked expression. I loved her full of fire temperament. Superb, superb make and shape and ultra short back. This was my winner. So balanced body and so typy, when stood in position, reminded me one of the drawings of The Standard. Pity that her tail is set high. Also, Id prefer more profile to complete the picture however her virtues are so amazing that easily outweigh her lacks and I decided to award her BB BIS

Lovely tricolour bitch in a wonderful condition. Very smart markings. Fantastic head, very deep, wide and lovely curved. Correct scissors with one canine tight. Nice expression, eyes and ear set, one ear a touch softer today. Beautiful front and feet. Very good make and shape. Correct top line, tail carriage and hind quarters. To be ultra critical I'd prefer her a bit shorter. Immaculate condition and showed lovely. Pleasant temperament. High class, typy bitch. Pleasure to go over her. Pushed hard for res BB. Congratulations to the breeder/owner.

Very strong, powerful white bitch. Lovely head on her, with a nice turn, width and depth. Correct mouth. Very well made, with good neck into correct shoulders, top line and back angulation. Tails set ok. Powerful front. Maximum substance. This bitch will produce! Lovely overall but pity that she was not very interested in the show today. Handled well and in a good condition.
3rd CHARISHALEE ENDEVOUR (MRS P & MESSRS C & L WANNOP)
Such a pity she was shy today. Lovely, white bitch with amazing head and expression to die for. Superb eyes giving that wow factor plus very nice ears when she uses them. Loved her front and feet. She picked up after I placed them all. Typical!

A lovely tricolouri bitch, with a very good conformation. Good expression, eyes and ears. Strong head but Id prefer better profile. Perfect mouth. Beautiful straight front. Good reach of neck into a very nice shoulders, correct top line and tail set ok. Superb short back, a big virtue of her. Very playful and pleasant temperament. Showed and handled expertly. In spot on condition.

Superb white with black ears. Very strong head with a perfect turn in profile, depth and width. Great bitch with max substance to her size. Superb make and shape. Lovely neck into clean shoulders and a lovely short back. Tails set correctly and good hind quarters. Beautiful straight front. Showy temperament. Her tail could have been trimmed that would complete the picture and she would benefit of losing a pound or two. I loved her type and construction. That lead her into title RBB RBIS

Brindle and white, strong bitch, plenty of bone. A very good sweeping profile, good width to her head. Level bite. Nice ears and eyes giving typical expression. Lovely straight front and tidy feet. Correct make and shape, good spring of rib, I'd prefer shorter back. Correct tail set. Showy and pleasant temperament & handled very well.
