Thank you to Notts and Derby Bull Terrier Club for inviting me to judge their August open show. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and it was fantastic to be able to go over some quality animals.
Some of the younger and less experienced exhibits were quite difficult to assess, especially with their movement. Most likely due to lack of ringcraft training and shows during COVID times. However the handlers all worked hard to get the most from their dogs.
Congratulations to the main winners of the day, all lovely examples of the breed.

1st TULSADOOM PER MARE ET TERRAM (TAF) (MRS M MARSDEN)
7 month old white with eye patch, lovely well made boy with plenty of bone and substance. Long filled head with enough muzzle power and a deep underjaw. Good mouth. He is short in back with a straight front and nice tight feet. Good body lines throughout. Powerful rear drive which made his handler work today, moved ok when settled.

1st DIKRAM DEVILS PROMISE (MRS N FLANAGAN)
Strong white dog who is just over 2 years old. A well developed boy with good spring of rib and good forechest. Short backed with correct shoulder placement. Profile is gently curved, not exaggerated and has plenty of depth. Small well placed eyes and ears which gives typical expression. Good mouth. Moved better coming than going.
2nd RALLY RED RYDA (MR & MRS L S & A KELLY)
Smart upstanding solid red smut boy, 20 months. Still needs some time to mature and body up, lovely reach of neck leading into a short back. A bit upright in shoulder. Long head with smooth profile and enough fill and turn. Small dark eye. Mouth incorrect. Held his topline on the move.
3rd RUBBISE BIG AL (MR A HAASE)
2 year old, nicely marked brindle & white. Head of moderate length, with enough fill and turn. Mouth incorrect. Pleasing body lines and decent tuck up. Would like a little more length of upper arm. Topline is a little roached. Moved better coming, a little close at the rear.

1st RABRAM RUSTIC SUNRISE (MR R LEGGATT)
A very typy cobby brindle and white, with a beautiful completely filled and turned head. Ears are neat and right on top, eyes are dark, small and well placed. Mouth ok. Deep chested with a perfect straight front and enough bone right down to his tight feet. Short in back with a powerful well angulated rear that he used to his advantage to drive down the mat. Correct tail set. Held his topline. Moved and handled well. BD RBIS
2nd JASNA LOCKED AND LOADED (MR & MISS S J & J SYKES & SHAW)
A true heavyweight tri colour with immense bone and substance. Profile could be slightly stronger, however his head is filled right up with lots of muzzle power. Mouth ok. Body is strong with a deep well developed forechest. Beautiful straight front and tight compact feet. Not the shortest of backs but his size carries it ok. Would like a bit more bend of stifle. Moved well coming, a touch close going. RBD
3rd BOSLEY RASELS BULL JUGGERNAUT CV (MR J KEATING)
Upstanding tricolour with strong power packed head that’s filled and turned. Strong underjaw. Mouth incorrect. Nicely balanced dog that has a lovely straight front, a little more bone would complete his overall appearance. Short coupled & held his good solid topline on the move. Presented and handled well

1st COOLBULS KINGSTON TOWN AT KRAWEN (MR & MRS S J & K J BROWN)
Upstanding black brindle and white with a gentle sloping profile. Ears are small even if placed a little wide. Mouth correct. Well developed, shapely bodylines with a short back and nice tuck up. Lovely straight front with enough bone for size. Well angulated and muscled rear. A true professional and powered expertly down the mat with his handler.

1st EMRED ESTELLE AT KRAWEN (MR & MRS S J & K J BROWN)
A proper show star even at the age of 13½ years old. Lovely compact white bitch with ear mark. Sweeping profile which still holds its power throughout. Good body condition with short back and straight front. Moved well and was certainly enjoying her day out.
2nd TULSADOOM TERRYS ALL GOLD (MR & MRS T & S BROWN)
A fantastic 11½ years old white bitch with brindle head markings. I remember this girl as a youngster in the ring. The quality is still there even if she has aged over the years. She has a lovely long gentle curved profile with width and turn. Has kept her body lines in tip top condition. Moved ok.

White bitch with double eye patch. Strong yet somewhat short, powerful profile with plenty of width and finish. Mouth incorrect. She gives typical expression from her ears bang on top and small well placed eyes. Stands nice and four square with a short back and enough bone for her size. Dropped topline slightly on the move. Handled well.

This girl caught my eye straight away. 10 month old white with double eyepatch. Her head is packed well with fill and turn, profile smooth and unbroken. Deep underjaw with good mouth. Looks quite mature in body and has enough bone for her type and size. Would like more a touch more forechest. Short backed with well muscled rear, in good hard condition. Had tendency to hold her tail high at times. Showed, moved and handled well, pushed hard in the challenge. RBB BP

9 month old white girl with red eye patch. Very feminine and pretty with a lovely sweeping unbroken profile. Good mouth. Elegant body and a nice straight front. Tight feet. Well let down hocks which made good rear movement. Would like a little more power throughout. Moved and showed well.
3rd MIANDALE ICE QUEEN (MR & MRS M & A DODD)
Litter sister to 2 with similar attributes. White with red ears. Head has a long arced profile nicely finished with a good mouth. Nice tight tucked in elbows. Short backed and well made. Moved freely and well handled. Preferred outline of 2. Both lovely young girls.

Up on leg brindle and white who definitely makes her ring presence known! Her alertness shows off her small dark well placed eyes and ears. Head has a long gentle flowing profile with enough fill. Could benefit from a fraction more turn. Good mouth. Well made throughout with short back and well muscled, strong rear. When caught in the right moment, this girl shows off her quality. Moved well when settled.
2nd RABRAM RIDING THE STORM AT BULLSEDEN (MR & MISS C J & J AIREY & JOHNSTONE)
Brindle and white, different in type to 1. Power filled head, moderate in length with enough depth, width and finish. Mouth ok. Good length of neck leading into a short back and well sprung ribs. Straight front. Would like more length of upper arm. Pasterns a little down. Well let down hocks. Correct tail set. Moved ok once settled.
3rd VILLENSIA VOLETA OF SPARTIATE (MR & MRS D A & S M HACKETT)
Substantial black, brindle and white with a long strong profile. Head has depth and turn but would prefer more fill. Mature body with deep forechest. Good bone and tight compact feet. Moved ok, lost topline slightly.

Beautifully feminine white with head mark. Smart young girl at just over a year old. Lovely long arced unbroken profile, with a deep underjaw and good mouth. Good forechest and shoulders complete with compact feet. Elegant and flowing body with correct tail set. Moved better coming, a fraction close behind. Made the most of herself and showed better in the challenge.

Substantial white girl with black head marks. Wide head with gentle profile, enough depth and finished off with a good mouth. Ears set a little wide. Small dark eyes. Well developed body and forechest .Well sprung ribs. Back could be a touch shorter. Maximum bone and substance for her size. Shown in good condition and moved well.
2nd UKUSA EXXTRAVAGANT (MR & MRS R & H SAUNDERS)
Lots of power throughout in this nicely marked tri colour. Head is not overly done with good finish and fill. Mouth ok. Mature rounded body with deep ribs and average length of back. Enough bone for size. Moved better coming. Lost her topline slightly. Nicely presented and handled.

Loved her! Typy compact white with eyepatch. Her profile is smooth and curved with power but not exaggerated in any way. Keen expression. Good mouth. Lovely length of neck leading into her shapely body which is well ribbed up. Her straight front shows off her good round bone. Tight feet. Shortest of backs with correct tail set. Nicely angulated, well muscled rear giving typical movement. Handled calmly and to perfection. Quality girl and a well deserved winner. BB BIS

Black brindle and white. Small and compact but well balanced for her size. Head is slightly plain in profile. Would like a deeper underjaw. Good mouth. Small eyes with ears well placed. Mature body with lovely forechest and short back. A little more length of upper arm would improve her topline on the move. Moved better coming, a little close behind. Knew exactly what to do in the ring to make the most of herself. Smartly presented.
