It was a great pleasure to judge the final Bull Terrier Championship show of 2016 and I thank the committee for their kind invitation. Whilst numbers at BT shows have certainly diminished there is still quality in abundance and the Open Bitch class was every bit as good anyone could hope to see in the Ormandy Jugs which meant some excellent bitches going without even a card. N & D D BTC are a very proactive club, working hard to keep the momentum of their shows going and this commitment was rewarded with a busy and appreciative ringside.

1st ZANKOL TWIST N'TURN (MR & MRS C & S TAYLOR)
Seven months white with plenty of bone and substance. Strong masculine head, would like a little more fill, correct mouth and one soft ear which I’ve no doubt will correct itself given time. Good straight front when standing but loose on the move – a bit of roadwork over the winter will sort this out – correct shoulder and topline and well defined hindquarters which he used to good advantage. Please give his tail a trim next time out.
2nd FUNKAIDELLIX'S JUNO'S GENERAL (MISS & MR F & K LIGHTBURN & LIGHTBURN)
Very nice youngster but in disappointing condition and rather shy. Strong head with correct mouth, good arc, width, turn and correct mouth. Ample bone and well balanced - well worth the effort to sort his skin out and to get his confidence improved

1st DEVERCLIFFT BIG TONTO (MR & MRS C & M CLIFFT)
Very smart little dog, white with a red eye patch, lovely strong head with arc, width, fill and turn, mouth is a reverse scissor. Four-square and cobby, he was well made with a straight front, correct shoulder and topline and moved very well both ways

1st BRIDEN FUN LOVIN CRIMINAL AT KARMARA (MRS & MR R & T KARTA-WILLIAMS & WILLIAMS)
Powerful, active white, upstanding and well balanced with a strong masculine head, mouth just correct. Good straight front with broad chest, correct shoulder and level topline. Moved well both ways when he settled
2nd UKUSA ZAIKAI (MR MARK RUDDOCK)
Close decision between the next 3 dogs, just a whisker between them all, this lad went up for the greater quality in his head, he has a lovely profile, just a little more fill would complete the picture. He’s a good shoulder although a little long in the back, needs to mature and fill out a little. Moved very well both ways
3rd BEEBEEMI GRANDMASTER FLASH (MISS DONNA MITCHELL)

1st RABRAM ROCK STAR (MR R LEGGATT)
Absolutely beautiful young dog of real quality. White with eyepatch, he has a super head, very strong with arc, width fill and turn, mouth is correct apart from one tight canine. Four-square and very well balanced with a good front and lovely broad chest, deep brisket, correct shoulder and short back – to be picky I’d prefer a less sloping topline but then, nobody’s perfect! Moved well behind and good in front and from the side kept his topline. Showing his socks off from start to finish, he was beautifully presented and handled and I was pleased to award him CC and BIS, I’m sure his title can’t be far away DCC BIS
2nd DIKRAM MIDNIGHT DREAM (MR & MRS M & D LITTLEFAIR)
Powerhouse of a tricolour with a superb head, ultra masculine, deep and strong with arc, width and fill, incisors just off. Again well balanced, a big dog but compact with super bone. Broad chest and deep brisket, good shoulder and short back, he moved well in front but was a little disappointing behind
3rd EMRED DOUBLE DEALER (MR & MRS D & J LISTER)
Attractive white with a good head, also well balanced but not quite the oomph to take on 1 and 2

1st CH TEIRWGWYN TOP GUN (MRS & MISS A J & N ROBERTS)
Not much I can say about this boy that hasn’t been said before, presented in beautiful condition and showing well, he has a superb head with a sweeping profile, broad, deep, strong and filled right up, with correct mouth. Well balanced, good bone and substance he has a good shoulder and topline which he retains on the move, his quarters are strong but he was a little close behind on the move today. A cracking Bull Terrier but, in the challenge for CC I just preferred the movement and front of the winner but pleased to award this boy RCC and RBIS RDCC
2nd BROOKBULLY AVENGER (MR J EMETT)
Strong white who I’ve long admired. Another superb head, lovely profile, correct width and again all the fill he needs, mouth is just level and he has the most beautiful expression. Sadly a little lacking in condition with a slightly woolly coat and not making 100% of himself which he needs to do in this company. Nicely balanced with a good front, chest, shoulder and topline, he’s a little straight in stifle but does move well both ways
3rd CIGANO DARK KNIGHT FOR AFANBULL (MR J W SHEEHY)
Powerful black brindle, another one with a superb head, sweeping profile, wide, filled and turned, mouth correct. Lost out to 2nd who I felt was just that little bit better balanced but not much between them

1st RAGNAROK BALDER AT POLANCA (MISS & MR L & T SHEPPARD & HOWES)
Well known red and white who still loves the ring, showed himself off beautifully. Strong head with full reverse scissor, his super condition and movement taking the class
2nd MARSHELSEA TROUBLE COMING AT ROMAGNA (MRS & MRS M & Y MORGANS)
Another super showman enjoying himself in the ring, good head, just showing his age a little more than the winner and not moving so strongly behind
3rd RIGHTSTUFF REASON (MR & MRS C & J WRIGHT)
Pretty girl with a beautiful head, couldn’t just compete with the two big lads today

1st UNFAILLING LOST IN PARADISE FOR SERENBULL (IMP FRA) (MRS & MISS & MISS S & K & L NISBET & KELLY & KELLY)
11 months old and a little out of coat, she’s got the winter to mature. Classy bitch with very little to dislike, correct profile with plenty of fill and a perfect mouth. Lovely neck and shoulder, pasterns need to tighten a little but otherwise front is good, well balanced, good bend of stifle, moving well both ways. Super little showgirl.
2nd RIGHTSTUFF REBELLIOUS (MR & MRS C J & J WRIGHT)
Beautiful headed white girl, super arc, width and fill but sadly mouth is a reverse scissor, not quite the shoulder and topline of the winner, however she did move well both ways
3rd ZANKOL STAR STRIKE (MR & MRS C & S TAYLOR)
Strong white who’s just a baby, plenty of bone and substance and just needs time to develop a little more confidence

1st DIKRAM DEVIL MAY DARE (MR BARRIE JOYCE)
Really beautiful black brindle and white, quite excitable and giving her handler something of a run for his money! Lovely head with a super arc, width and fill and finish, mouth is perfect. Correct shoulder and level topline, good straight front although feet are a little untidy, but nothing some winter roadwork wouldn’t sort out. She’s a lovely broad chest and deep brisket and moved well both ways when settled. When it came to the challenge for the CC I couldn’t stop my eye being drawn to her, despite her playing up, and decided that, point for point, she was the one I’d take home and so deserved the crown. I do so hope her owner perseveres: with improved performance I feel her next two tickets can’t be too far away. BCC
2nd UKUSA AUSPICIOUS (MR R RACKSTRAW)

1st HEAVEN WHITE LIGHT-FLYWEIGHT AT DITON (IMP FRA) (MR & MRS A J & D B MCCANN)
Two beautiful bitches, the winner took the class on her lovely bone and substance, she’s a strong yet feminine head, with excellent breadth and depth, correct mouth. Good neck and strong chest and front, still needs to mature and fill out her frame, she moved out well both ways, a lovely quality bitch,
2nd EXTROSA'S BRENDA LEE LITTLE MISS DYNAMITE AT LYDSYLL (IMP ITA) (MR S LEESLEY)
Lovely head in profile and fill but not the strength of the winner, mouth is also correct. Different type, feminine but more elegant and very showy. Front needs to tighten but she’s got the winter to mature – moved extremely well behind.

1st UKUSA EFFUSIVE (MR & MRS A & C WILLIAMS)
Upstanding white, just showing signs of a phantom pregnancy which spoilt her underline and her coat was likewise a little thin. Lovely feminine head, long and well arced with sufficient fill. Mouth is perfect. Good front, feet could be tidier but this was a problem I spotted many times throughout the day – good bit of winter roadwork will sort this out. Nicely balanced with a good chest and deep brisket, correct topline and strong quarters, she moved well both ways. I’d like to see her trimmed up and with a dab of chalk - one to watch
2nd KOMERITO JLO (IMPGRC) (MR & MRS M & T FLETCHER)
Smaller, chunky red and white with a strong yet feminine head, lovely arc, width and turn, correct mouth, not quite so well balanced as the winner, strong quarters, she moved well both ways

1st RABRAM ROLLING DEEP (MR R LEGGATT)
Lovely feminine head with super arc, width and fill, mouth is good, good strong chest but front could be better, has a tendency to stand with head looking up which spoils her shoulder and topline – something for her handler to watch out for because, when looking down her muzzle, she makes a much better outline. Strong quarters, moved well behind but a little close in front
2nd RAGNAROK BACK IN BLACK FROM POLANCA (MISS & MR L & T SHEPPARD & HOWES)
Black brindle and white, super showgirl and another one with a lovely head, super arc, width, fill and turn, mouth is perfect. Good neck and shoulder but rather long cast which, along with her splashed coat, spoils her outline just a little, requiring you to look thru it. She took 2nd place on her better shoulder and front, although again, feet could be tidier.
3rd BOBUDDY QUATRE BRAS (MR S ROFF)

1st TRICK OR TREAT JAUNTY AIR AT KIRKVILLE (IMP FRA) (MR & MS M & J YOUNG & DEUTSCH)
Lovely petite white bitch, who never stopped showing. She’s beautifully made all thru and it was that which swung it for her in the end. Lovely feminine head with arc, plenty of muzzle power and fill with a perfect mouth. Lovely neck shoulders, front and topline, she’s beautifully balanced with correct topline into strong quarters which she used to her advantage, excelling on the move front and back. RBCC
2nd DNK CH DANELAW SYMPHONY FOR THE DEVIL (ATCAT01416DNK) (VANESSA GRONBORG)
I really was spoilt for choice in this class and this little beauty pushed hard for top spot. A lovely, feminine head with super arc although to be picky I would have liked a little more width and fill, perfect mouth. Elegant neck into well laid shoulders, she was also very well balanced with a good topline and strong quarters, also moving well both ways but not with the strength of the winner.
3rd CH & IR CH DEBULLY VAGABOND QUEEN (MR & MRS C & G DOBBIN)
Also pushing very hard was this girl with her gorgeous head, super arc, width, fill and turn and a correct mouth, she caught my eye as she entered the ring. A bigger bitch with excellent bone and substance, just losing out in construction to 1st/2nd
Res CH UKUSA METAMORPHOSIS (MR & MRS G & A NEWBERRY)
A bitch I’ve much admired from the ringside and she can’t go unmentioned: today she was not quite on top form, looking as if she’s still working-off her maternal duties, I’m sure she will be back on top in the New Year.
VHC KOELLEN PENNY BLACK (MR K O'CONNELL)
