SCOTTISH BULL TERRIER CLUB OPEN SHOW

Thank you to the entire committee (and family members) of The Scottish Bull Terrier Club for putting on such a welcoming show. Their enthusiasm is tremendous, everyone is made to feel very welcome. The venue was light, airy and comfortable. My sincere thanks for the invite to judge and to the exhibitors for attending the show. A big thanks to Di Littlefair who turned up to support the club and ended up stewarding all day.

1st ALIZARIN BLAZIN FIRE (MS E WILSON)
Substantial well marked 9 month old red and white, long pleasing head with a good mouth, could do with a little more turn, strong neck with straight front, good length of body with bone to match his size. Muscular rear quarters with a decent bend of stifle. A little erratic on the move but is well made and can move. He obviously needs time to mature, settle and a little more ring training. Shown in very good condition. BP
2nd CIVERT STOP THE CAVALRY (MRS J HEDGES)
10 month old tricolour, strong head with a good mouth, decent length of back, lots of bone, well angulated quarters, moved ok both ways, lost his shape on the move but another nice young dog who will be interesting to see again as he matures. Just preferred the overall balance of 1.

1st SELBULLIE DARK SIDE OF BLAZINBULLYS (MR & MRS S & R MATHISON)
Flashy young dark brindle and white that demands your attention in the ring. Super outline with the shortest of back which you don’t always see nowadays, unexaggerated long shapely head, well placed ears, piercing eye giving the keenest of expressions and good mouth. Wide chest, with a muscular front to match, neat feet. Strong body with spring of rib, short coupled into decent hind quarters. Gleaming coat. He moved well both ways albeit needed time to settle. A young dog with lots of ring presence who as you expect from this kennel was shown in fit hard condition and handled well. At 14 months old hopefully he can only get better as he matures. BD BOB BIS
2nd IRAZISTABULL HADES UPSTART (MR & MISS D P & S MCDONAGH & MCLEISH)
Another quality young animal. A taller dog, black brindle with a powerful head, good mouth. Strong neck with a straight front, huge bone with a developed well rounded body, decent length of back leading into good strong well angulated rear end. Moved well both ways. Not quite as compact as 1 but very nicely presented and handled well.

1st PINEBULL AT FIRST LIGHT (MR & MRS J & S NEWMAN)
A striking young white dog with a mark on base of tail. Exceptional head, with the keenest of expressions, mouth incorrect. Super bone with the tightest of feet and shortest nails I’ve seen in a long time. Good straight front into short muscular compact body. Well bent stifle, thighs could be stronger with some work. He moved reasonably well both ways when he got going. Shown in very fit condition which is a real credit to his owner. Could have benefitted with a few extra ponds over the loin for the ring today to complete the picture. A super typy dog with lots to like about him. RBD

5 year old red and white, nicely made throughout, pleasing head would ideally like to see more turn and fill, good mouth. Substantial bone, good straight front, decent length of back. Moved straight in the front and closer behind. Not quite the overall make, shape and type of 1.

Nicely marked red and white. Pleasing head, could benefit from more fill and turn to it. Good eye, ears could be better placed. Muscular neck with a good front, nice feet, well made body, good length of back and strong hind quarters which he used on the move. A nicely balanced dog. Shown in good condition.
2nd BULLYWORKS PURE BULL (MR IAIN SHAW)
Another nice red and white. Good head with slight mouth fault, good reach of neck, straight front. Enough bone for his size. Moved ok. A little unsure in the ring but well handled. Different in type to 1 and not quite as balanced throughout.

Very smart 11 month old black brindle. nice head with length and finish, good mouth, neat ears. Good shoulders, straight front, feet could be tighter. The right amount of bone for her size, good neck, front, shapely body with good strong quarters and moved well. A nicely presented young bitch. Pity she couldn’t have stayed for Best Puppy.

1st RABRAM REBELLIOUS ROSE (MR & MISS C J & J AIREY & JOHNSTONE)
White with two black ears. Elegant young bitch who standing presents the correct outline. Her head is long with enough fill, well placed ears, good expression and correct mouth. She is made very well throughout with a long arched neck, well set shoulders, straight front, good depth of chest, rounded body complete with decent length to her back. Well bent stifles and hocks but just needs more strength to her thighs which showed in her rear movement. Her front feet are not her fortune as is her coat. A promising young bitch who pushed hard in the challenge for BB. I hope she continues to do well. She is a credit to her owners who I hope keep working with her as she matures. RBB

Upstanding substantial red and white, nicely made sound bitch throughout. Good through the neck and front and shoulders, with good bone and substance. Strong filled head, would like to see a little more profile. Well rounded body which was strong with a good underline. Developed rear end with enough bend of stifle and moved ok both ways. Very attentive to her young handler who presented her competently.
2nd FUNKAIDELLIX'S GOLD DAWN (MISS & MR F & K LIGHTBURN & LIGHTBURN)
white with two red ears. A smart cobby bitch smaller and different in type to 1. Strong head in profile, would like to see more fill under the eye, ears correctly placed. Enough bone and substance for her size, front feet could be tighter, good length of back with good rear quarters. Moved reasonably well. I felt she could have benefitted from a few extra pounds today. Well handled. Just preferred the overall balance of 1.

A very smart brindle and white. An abundance of bone for her size, lovely head, small dark eye, expression with correct mouth. She has well placed ears but chooses not to use them in the ring. Her body is strong with good spring of rib and depth leading into muscular angulated hindquarters, moved well. A quality well-constructed bitch. A nice one to own and a real shame she didn’t show herself off in the final challenge despite the efforts of her handler.

Well-marked elegant black brindle. She has lots of ring presence and standing shows herself off to the maximum. Filled head which gently curves down to her nose. Correct mouth, well set ears, eyes slightly kind. Long tapered neck into well placed developed shoulders. Super straight front with tight feet. Strong yet feminine muscular body with a good topline, underline and tail set. Nice flat even coat. Good bend of stifle and strong hindquarters. Moved well when she settled. A stylish quality bitch who was shown in good fit condition and made the most of herself in the ring. Nicely handed. BB

Solid brindle with white flash to chest. Strong headed bitch with nice expression, ears slightly wide, nicely made throughout with good amount of bone for her size, moved slightly close behind. Well handled. A nice type of bitch and real credit to her owner at over six years old. Just preferred the overall shape of 1.
